A concept show-home based on a found vintage textile in Victoria, SW1
Studio L transformed this three-bedroom lateral apartment in the iconic 55 Victoria Street into a relaxed, contemporary showhome inspired by a modernised African batik print.
Designed as the studio’s second bespoke showcase flat for this RIBA award-winning development, the interior blended reupholstered vintage pieces, contemporary furnishings and custom Studio L designs to create an upscale, layered home with subtle cultural references.

The interior was led by a found textile and the imagined atmosphere it could suggest, rather than a conventional showhome formula. The modernised batik print became the starting point, with its references interpreted in a relaxed, contemporary way.
Studio L balanced unique vintage finds with bespoke furniture designs, including the primary bed in rich burnt umber leather and a lacquered daybed with a continuous shelving unit for the home office, allowing the space to double as a guest bedroom.
The result was a distinctive, design-led showcase home that felt unexpected, exciting and memorable, while still supporting the commercial purpose of this landmark residential development.
