OUR Approach
At Studio L London, we create interiors with character and story—spaces that feel uplifting and truly good to be in. Rather than impose a signature style, we listen closely and help each client’s unique taste shine through, shaping environments that are coherent, personal, and unmistakably theirs.
Our preferred approach is to work on projects holistically — from concept and spatial planning through specification, procurement and delivery. This ensures that every creative decision is thoughtfully connected, resulting in spaces that feel harmonious and complete.
Whether working with period homes, listed buildings, or contemporary renovations, our goal remains constant: to craft a home that feels deeply yours and brings enduring joy and satisfaction.
LAURA’s story
Laura Marino began her career in residential development, blending inspired design with commercial insight.
Before Studio L, Laura co-founded Alchemi Group as Creative Director, shaping a residential portfolio exceeding £1 billion at its peak — from concept through placemaking and marketing. She curated teams and personally designed and procured interiors across their developments.
Much of this work focused on restoring listed buildings and complex retrofits, always celebrating each property’s original character.
When Laura’s bespoke showcase homes launched, private clients were drawn to their individuality and thoughtful detail. Many requested the same creative rigor and curation for their own homes, leading Laura to establish Studio L London in 2016.
Studio L is a BIID Registered Interior Designer®, a member of House & Garden’s The List, and winner of Homes & Gardens’ Best Small Space 2025. The studio works with private clients across London, the UK, and internationally.

At Alchemi, Laura was hands-on at every stage of the project starting with acquisition through final delivery and residential sales. This experience taught Laura how to conceptualise and safeguard a design vision through architects, consultants, contractors, and the realities of building on-site.
It has shaped how she collaborates with clients today, balancing creativity with practical understanding of how decisions impact cost, timing, value, and outcome.
This breadth keeps Laura discerning, agile and resourceful—able to adapt, find quality solutions, and navigate challenges while always honouring the design vision and commercial realities.
Laura understands that aesthetics and commerciality do not have to be mutually exclusive. And through her refined eye, brings that same exceptional diligence to her work in private residential.
SUSTAINABILITY
Sustainability is woven into Laura’s design approach from the start. Her instinct is to restore, enhance, or thoughtfully modernise a home’s character and features.
This practice began at Alchemi, where retrofitting and restoring existing and listed buildings shaped her design philosophy. At Studio L, this commitment continues—upcycling existing pieces, choosing local and healthier materials, and guiding clients toward choices that support their lifestyle, wellbeing, and their home's lasting value.
Our goal is to design interiors that are lived in and loved for decades to come.
